@Furnive
12:38 why the endings is stopped earlier 😂
@valia
I like the theory that if you can't poeple to like a Youtube video, than you can't get them to buy the game. It's pretty much true.
@mjzcreations8571
cooment for your google algorithm juice…
@lordwigstyle8017
3 years is def a lot more than it can take. 6 months to a year is more resonable, unless have to learn everything from new and dont get any assets and your game isnt really big
@SniperSpy10
yo, meme review filler episodes, why you threating us with something we want, now I want to complain but I can't because it is a good video, I feel torn
@jomarkgobres9409
I luv your eye brow lol
@anvarmusaev1355
I am a freelance web developer and I have to say your tips would work even for a non-game dev
@HadronCollisionYT
Ponty how can someone run a youtube channel when they are not fluent at speaking english. I am not fluent at speaking english. How can I run a youtube channel. I speak Urdu language. If I do voice overs in urdu then not many people will watch my videos.
@fumps3543
yeah
@NinjaIO
I've managed to make a decent living off ninja io. After more than 5 years of development it has well over a million players a month.
If you want to make a living as indie dev then you need to reach a large enough audience, and this is one of the biggest challenges.
Make sure you get plenty of exposure one way or another. Invest in a good domain. Listen to other people's advice and criticism. You should welcome criticism, not dismiss it or feel insulted by it. You don't know everything, you're going to make lots of mistakes and some of your ideas will suck. Don't be too principled or perfectionist either: do concessions where necessary if it means your game can appeal to a larger audience, and focus on those things that players actually care about. Don't obsess over small details.
At the end of the day you're going to have to make an income and you can't make an income with a product for which there are no customers.
Game development is a messy, long, tedious process, and unlikely to be financially viable.
That's why it's important to have fun during the development process. Don't burn yourself out on a project only to have your high hopes dashed at launch.
@hafizomar9884
great talk you nailed it . . . It was not a filler . . . its a motivation to create my own game soon I will be releasing my videos too. . its just because of you dude . ..
@francoislassl9451
you are amazing!
@lexlugar3736
That’s amazing you can also use nfts to supplement the income while creating your game
@isaacj2914
missing eye brows hahahaah
@TOOMUCHDOGyo
im am currently developing a game called bean world and it is coming along well. do you have any tips on how to get rid of double jump
@izzyhope58
I don't get the whole thing of "your game will only sell in the first couple weeks and from there it won't sell" like if your game dosn’t sell couldn't you just re-release it or something. Like why do people not buy a game if it's a few weeks or months old, I never buy games when they come out and I ALWAYS buy games at a later date. Don't understand it
@animepunk8759
Lol! ^o^ Minecraft vids or meme reviews! ^o^
@midimusicforever
I'll slap a comment on for the algorithm. 😉

@c0dertang
What site do you market your game on? Is it itch.io ? or is it a store like STEAM or the microsoft app store ore the apple app store?
@lenahakansson6192
Jaha så du är svensk 🙂
@Bedsize
The one thing big studios cant or rather wont offer, is new game mechanics, new gameplay. They have been remaking the same games for the last 20 years
@deraminator945
50k? you mean 80k xD
@martinhoffteigen3890
I got a lot of motivation from this. Keep up the good work!
@anandsuralkar2947

@thomasotto1661
I'm way too introverted to make YT vids. But I totally agree with our points.
@michaeldavidowitz2389
Wish I could have bought the course with your link, but I already have the course
@aweidenhammer
An excellent point. If you can’t sell free, you won’t sell paid. Great job you eyebrowless nerd! Been loving your devlogs.
@alicewonder8523
Plz do meme reviews💀
@kevinduliesco5468

@cloudbaseddev4913

@FlammingtonStudios
I have the opposite confidence problem with making videos. I'm fine with showing my face, but not with recording my voice, do you have any suggestions for how I could make a devlog without doing a VoiceOver?
@Zerbexian
Hey there! I was wondering if you have any tips for a guy like me? I work a full-time job, and I have 3 kids. I really cannot quit my job and take the risk of not having enough income to send them to school etc. And I don't know anything about marketing, I had a youtube channel with my friend back in the day, but I realized it wasn't meant for me. Do you know any good place to start?
@ArkTheDuckh
69K subs
@ironicmark7253
Can you make your game be played on a keyboard?
@gotaro69
Epic video😊👏
@RavyStudios
Hey Pontypants
I really enjoy your content and I am kind of in a similar situation as you were.
To keep it short I started making gameplay edits & intros in my free time back in school, which helped me land my first job in post-production as a 3D artist/video editor in the advertisement after about half a year I quit to start studying game art (I was also playing around with ue4 for some years in my spare time),
it turned out to be a great success and I ended up being the/or one of the MVPs of every team I worked with because my skill set is pretty diverse and In the second 2 semesters I even got into coding the game in ue4 bps because we didn't have many good coders.
We did like one game every semester with a team game design/art/coding/producing students, and it was really fun we had all the control over the idea and how it turns out.
After university, I landed a job in an indie game studio where I currently do all the art, and it's fun I like my team the game is fun the salary is pretty good,
BUT I really wanna start out my own game someday that's like my big dream, but as you said in the video the old way of only making money on release if you even make money then is a bit stupid to go through.
I will start building up a yt channel right today and start thinking about a small fun game idea and get it all starting!
My motivation to finally do it is all over the top thanks to you! You may just changed my life!
