From identifying local businesses to optimizing their online presence, this experiment will challenge and show anyone who is interested what is possible.

Here is the summary to answer some of the questions in the chat: local companies want to have an optimized Google Business Profile to help them get more leads and sales. What happens is that many of these companies have not claimed their Google Business Profile or have not optimized properly. So the base service you can offer is to help them claim and optimize it.
In terms of how to actually do that, you learn everything from Free Google training https://events.withgoogle.com/mydigitalworkshop/online-training/ . Please keep in mind that even if the service might seem simple to you, there are companies who don’t have the skills to do it themselves or don’t want to spend time learning about it, but could genuinely benefit from it. They just want the result.
After you provide the base service, you can guide them to their Google Business profile from in their social media accounts or any other legitimate source of traffic they may have or that you can get them. From there assuming they are happy with your work, you can provide any other services that you have skills for and are useful to them.
The video is intended to be a challenge in which I try something I have not done before, but instead I can learn relatively quickly. The services to optimize their business Google Map profile are an example, you are free to offer anything you want. I decided to share my experience of trying them. Also, please consider my approach, my call examples and my suggestions as ideas, part of a challenge I took on. These can be surely be improved to enable you to even make more money.
Also, you might not charge the same as me, you could charge less or more. You also, don’t need to call like I did, you can email instead. Irrespective of the channel you choose, the way you speak, present yourself and your services will make a major difference to whether the client trusts you and wants to work with you, even if you have years of experience or not. Also note that the point is to help, not spam people with calls. Like any other money making strategy, not all clients you call, may have the money to pay or the interest to work with you. That is part of the game.
The video presents the opportunity, finds the clients and describes the service to offer because these are some of the most of challenging parts. I did not go into how to actually update the profiles because that is well described in the Google training.
And yes, you would need to deliver the services which may take additional time, but as you get more experienced that time can reduce. Lastly, depending on how you charge, you might of course need to pay transaction fees. In my example, I have created a Fiver profile to charge. Also note that I find the clients by calling them, not from Fiveer.

Thank you for demonstrating the special sauce needed to be adventurous and solve a problem that might not be where our minds are. It is easy to see this kind of enginuity as cliche but what you're showing is that if you are willing to think out of the box, there are still many opportunities. That kind of thinking is how careers are slid into. Find a way to teach this to grade school students and adults who are displaced from the labor force!

What are you offering? I have been selling GBP / GMB set up for over 10 years. Now you need to do a video verification to claim. If you are not local, how are you getting the customer to take pics, videos, and send you the hours? Outside of writing good copy and setting up the categories, how much work are you making them do? When I sell, we go out and take photo, videos, and interview the owner. We also claim a Google phone # and set up Youtube channel. What are the deleveribles doing it your style from miles away?

What you are trying to sell is just an easy SEO thing. It is just some small meta data to add in their webpage and then they will have a full profile on google maps.

I am retired and very old school. I come from a career in sales. Tangle and non tangle products. When I started in the 1970's there was not technology to make things easy. I literally knocked on doors and cold called 80 to 90 my days in the beginning. Fast forward to the end of my career, I was texting and emailing prospect client and cold calling was very little due to the internet. My point is, in the 70's and 80's creating a business was easy, you made a pitch if some took the bait you made it happen. That business could last with one sale or couple years with a couple hundred clients. The thing I found interesting about your business is you sat on a chair inside for 4 hours. I spent 8 to 10 hours a day in my car and face to face with people. Wow how times have changed. Some time I wonder if people in the 1950's and 60's worked harder then I did.

Smaller clients who have incomplete listings are NOT the way to go — because they don't understand the value of advertising, don't have the budget for it, and certainly will not be as trusting with some 'random person' on the phone trying to sell them on marketing and advertising help. Mom and pop shops are also typically spending "their own money" — so they tend to be very frugal. And because they don't understand how marketing works (well.. assuming they don't) they also tend to be troublesome clients who will nickel-and-dime you to death with 'scope creep' (when they keep trying to pile more and more onto a marketing project without allowing for an increase in cost). They're generally just difficult to work with. Sure, there are always exceptions — but people, no matter how large or small, who KNOW that marketing works almost guaranteed have already completed these tasks, or they tend to hire qualified people they know (in their own network), or they hire an established, and often times local, professional or agency to handle the work. LARGE enterprise accounts, on the other hand, have a person dedicated to marketing (usually a number of people) who totally understand what it takes and what it costs to marekt efficiently. They're not spending "their own money" so you get less squabbling over price (unless you're suspiciously priced too low or too high). They already know the ins-and-outs of what they're paying for, so they don't tend to pile on more and more requests to the same job, rather they realize that 'scope creep' also means 'cost creep' and they're willing to pay. I could go on and on… but this video is way off base and much of the information is totally bogus/made up. This video exists for one reason — for them to SELL their own services (you might not see it now… but just try to claim that 'free eBook' they have and watch your name and information spread like wildfire across every marketing and scamming community known to man. It's after you sign up (to get the "free" eBook) when you'll realize they sure have a lot of things to sell to you. But also consider that this channel makes money from viewers who come by to see the promise of easy money. The content doesn't have to be true… it just has to be click-baity enough to lure in those views. The rest is going to be cross-promotional links (even in the comments) and affiliate links on YouTube and their website.

I always wondered if you could go to the 'unclaimed money' sites for each state and contact people whose names are there, then let them know you can make them some money they didn't know they had, but for a small fee. You could charge 20 bucks each or some percentage of what is owed to them. The only thing about this is, you'd have to have a way, ie. paypal, to get your percentage without relying on the 'honor system'. What do you think of this idea?

I'm appreciating the honesty of the struggles and how not everyone has a number, will answer, will buy, etc. The other thing is she still has to deliver on those sales, so the real start to finish timeline will take a couple days: the sales part is done, the "real finish line" is a couple days away yet.
