Researching Bawitadaba by kid rock on Wikipedia it gives no reference to this which deserves credit as kid rock clearly took from it.

@disra555
Hard to believe this song generated two mega hits in two very different styles over two decades later (Bawitdaba and Cobrastyle)
@sandyl.2470
Y'all that scat riff wasn't invented by the Sugar Hill Gang, either. It's highly derivative of the Marcels' version of Blue Moon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0fy1HeJv80
@SurfNinja92
I care even less for kid rock now lulz
@BuffTaco
etc show brought me here!
@yourmackdaddy9395
Kid Rock didn't steal it, he was making a reference. If anything he was paying tribute to classic hip hop. Fuck sakes people. This is such a common thing done in rap. Emcees are constantly alluding to other songs and artists as call outs. This is a truly classic song that was a part of the ground that today's hip hop is built upon.
@filetinho
rap promoter
@MattMelon519
not only did kid rock take this but so did a tribe called quest for rap promoter. to be honest I like those two songs more than this one but this is cool too.
